It’s been such a long time since I posted but I promise that’ll change for this autumn. I have loads I want to share. In the meantime for my instagram’s #OctoberHealthyBreakfast party/challenge I wanted to share some of my favourite breakfast recipes so here goes! (Also while many of you know that I practice Intermittent Fasting like 16-8, I also feel strongly about having breakfasts on work days and also will practice one day water fasts for a total detox. This gives digestion a re-boot/re-set which I’ll expand more about another time sooo MORE on that later!)
But for now, here’s the recipe for this quick and easy filling BERRY-licious Smoothie!
This smoothie is full of powerful antioxidants provided by the BERRIES and AMLA powder.
Now BERRIES are some of the most nutrient rich foods on the planet. Per Dr. Michael Greiger ‘Berries have the greatest antioxidant content per serving compared to any other food except spices’ . They are powerful anti-cancer, disease fighting fruits. Likewise, Dr. Joel Fuhrman, another massive berry fan has expounded on their powerful nutritional compounds reducing risk of heart attack.
AMLA, or Indian Gooseberry is one of my favourite berries that I take in an organic powder. In a test of over 3,000 foods, amla turned out to be the number-one antioxidant-rich food. Amla has been shown to slow down aging, fight against heart disease, reduce blood sugar and more. IT truly is a SUPERFOOD!
1/2 cup of mixed Organic berries – I like blueberries, blackberries, rasberries, strawberries, cranberries and goji berries etc. (Organic is best as berries are heavily sprayed with pesticides)
1 handful of frozen pineapple (this is your sweetener!)
1-2 tablespoons of Organic flaxseed
1 tablespoon of organic Amla powder
1/2 avocado – this makes your smoothie creamy
1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon to regulate blood sugar
3/4 cup of coconut milk
Blend and top with pumpkin seeds, mixed berries, goji berries, and pomegranates too! Enjoy!
